Turn It Down

To my faithful blog readers,

A lot of you have told me that this blog is enjoyable to you, and I'm glad that this shenanigans can bring entertainment to your life, because it sure is fun for me to write about :)

I am a blog stalker. I love reading about people's lives, even people I don't know. I also love reading autobiographies. It is just a weird interest that I have.

I especially love reading the blogs of people who have horribly difficult things thrust into their lives and they share how they overcome these things- or at least live with them.

One of my favorites is Emily Meyers. Just, please... Go check this girl out.

Giuseppe just thinks I'm "obsessed with other people's sad lives", but he doesn't get it.

Reading about other people's lives is like making new friends. And who doesn't like that??

Anyway, I really would like to post more on this blog. Not for your sake at all, but as a little online journal for myself. :) I'd like to remember the small moments and what it was like to be a newlywed living in Salt Lake with my adorable husband.

So, here is a random moment in the life of the Hess'.

One afternoon I accidentally took a very long nap (don't you HATE that??), which subsequently led to me having a hard time falling asleep that night. My restlessness and whispered questions were really getting on Giuseppe’s nerves, so I decided to distance myself from the exhausted boy and listen to my new favorite song, Still Falling For You on my headphones.

I told Giuseppe my plan, but he told me that would be even more annoying because the light from the phone and the faint sound from the headphones would REALLY bother him. Even worse, he said, I had already listened to that song 10 times that evening and he couldn’t stand to hear it one more time.

Is it just me, or is a new Ellie Goulding song impossible to listen to only once?? I told G that if I used his beats he wouldn’t hear any sound, and that the light on my phone would be very brief. He told me I wasn’t allowed to use his beats for this purpose, but I decided to go find them anyway. After searching noisily (not on purpose) around in the pitch black bedroom for the headphones, I finally found them and I got back in bed. I could feel Giuseppe’s (loving) annoyance in the air.

I then proceed to choose my song and make sure it was set to repeat. As the song began, it was really loud so I turned down the volume.

Giuseppe complained, “I can hear it!! It is SO LOUD.” So I turned it down some more.

“It is still SO LOUD.” I turned it down even more, but at that point I couldn’t even hear it.

“Honey, TURN IT OFF. IT'S WAAAAAY TOO LOUD!”

“Are you kidding? I can’t even hear it!!”

“It’s the loudest thing I have ever heard!”

“Oh my gosh it’s like not even on!! I need to turn it on.”

“No!! How am I supposed to sleep?”

And that’s when I realized I hadn’t plugged the headphones into my phone and the music was playing out of the iPhone speaker. :/

That outside noise-reducing feature on the beats headphones really works!

Anyway, I will bring this long and pointless story to a close and inform you that Giuseppe wasn’t able to hear my music once I had the headphones plugged in, and I was able to fall asleep after a few rounds of Ellie.

And that was that.
